The best offline maps - GPSmyCity

The best offline maps – GPSmyCity. For more than a few years, GPSmyCity has been my go-to travel app for offline (and online) city walks on our travels. My husband Steve and I recently returned from a trip to Nassau, Bahamas, where we used one of the fantastic maps to take us to the Queen’s Staircase. I’d never heard of it, but I have climbed all 74 steps to the top!

I cannot remember when I first began using this app, but it has proven to be the best app I know of for finding walking maps to discover a new city and most of its walkable attractions. Whenever we find ourselves without transportation, whether on an 8 am to 5 pm port day during a transpacific cruise or in a city we are driving through on one of our rambling RV trips, I always refer to this app for its expert travel articles and accompanying walkable maps.

My go-to travel app for city walks!

So, let me explain this very popular GPSmyCity app. We are talking about a downloadable app that provides premade, self-guided walking tours in thousands of cities worldwide. The maps are customizable, allowing flexibility in selecting attractions. In addition to the maps, you will find great hyperlinked travel articles written by numerous travel bloggers/writers. The hyperlinks in the articles direct you straight to a ready-made walking map of the attraction that has caught your interest.

My favorite feature is that I can customize the walking map to add or eliminate sights I want or do not want to see. A big plus for this app is the FindMe feature, which will let you know exactly where you are.

How can you try out this fabulous traveler’s app? Download GPSmyCity from the Apple App Store (IOS devices) or the Google Play Store (Android devices). During this two-week promotional period, I am offering free downloads of three travel articles from GPSmyCity’s app. If you wish to download any of these articles, click on one of the articles listed below, and the app will direct you to the post you have chosen to download from the GPS-guided version – easy.
